NEWS AND EVENTS AT NOVEMBER 2004

The polo season has started and all the ponies are in, mind you they all look very fat and shiny after indulging on the spring feed. We have a new team to add to our polo club, so look out for the Griffin Coal Polo Team. The first tournament that Moondyne participated in was the exhibition game held at the Horse Expo at Brigadoon equestrian center on Friday the 8th of October.

Devereaux polo team was sent down to compete and came home the winners.
Moondynes first home polo tournament is the Devereaux Polo Ponies Tournament held here at our home grounds on the 27th & 28th of November. Perth Polo Club is holding a cocktail party on Friday the 3rd of December so for any of you wishing to go please contact Angus James on 0427 172 568 or Digby Atkins on 9296 1826 or 0414 233 414

For polo tournament dates please refer to the Tournament calendar with in this site. Our first practice starts this week November 9th. Practice should be every Tuesday & Thursday of each week, depending upon the weather. The time will be confirmed on the day.

NEWS AND EVENTS AT FEBRUARY 2005

We are now well into the Polo season and our horses are looking more like lean mean fighting machines. The Griffin Coal Polo Team shirts are taking longer than expected to be manufactured. I think the manufacturers are sewing the shirts by hand. The Devereaux Polo Ponies Tournament was a success with Moondyne winning the silver in the A grade. It wasn't silver, much to Greg's delight as he was called in at the last moment on Sunday to play in the final as we had a player go missing, the prize was chocolates and champagne J.S.'s favorite (J.S. is Greg's wife). The Perth Cocktail Party was very successful, creating plenty of headaches and making playing polo the next day very hard.

We had a Christmas Polo Tournament here at Moondyne and it was a 13 goal match, played between Claude Group and Horseland in a thrilling contest to win the Haggerty Perpetual Trophy. Claude Group beating Horseland 10-9. Devereaux played in the B grade and defeated Perth 4-3. We also had Father Christmas arrive by pony and cart giving out presents left right and center.

So far Geebung have been the team to beat this season, having won the WR Carpenter Properties and Carpenter Agriculture Tournament, WA Open and the Griffin Coal Tournament. Carpenters won the tournament played at Serpentine on the 29th and 30th of January. This weekend, the 19th and 20th February, we are competing for the Gooch Cup. This is a beautiful trophy with lots of history dating back to 1926. The tournament is being held at Serpentine, at the Serpentine Polo grounds run by the Kiely family.

The Instant Access Tournament will be held at Moondyne the following weekend the 26th and 27th of February and we will be playing for the Geebung Perpetual Trophy.
